Girl Scout cookie updates
The cookies are coming, the cookies are coming!
Cookie deliveries begin this week! Can you feel the excitement in the air? Check GreenBeans for your particular cookie pick-up date, time, and location.
This issue of "Miranda's Panda-gram" is about Cookie Cupboards, Cookie Billboards, new Cookie Texting, and more! GSGLA is providing tools and resources, but we've got you covered for promotion, too. We are driving customers to you in a number of ways, so make sure your troop is signed up for cookie boothing via the GreenBeans Booth Scheduler! There are still thousands of cookie booth sites available and you can select any GSGLA location. Boothing begins February 26!
Look for more Panda-grams in your email for brief e-updates about Cookie Program resources.
Tip of the week: Tweet, post, and talk about your cookie booths. Get the word out!
Cookie Cupboards
You know you want more. It's easy to get more cookies at the cookie cupboards. This year you can go to any GSGLA cookie cupboard you want. That's right, you can get more product and fast, friendly service at any cookie cupboard in the GSGLA jurisdiction. Cookie exchanges will be available at most cupboards March 1-15.
Please make a cupboard reservation through GreenBeans to help us serve you better.
Cookie Billboards!
Our name is in lights! There are 10 fabulous GSGLA billboards going up all over LA County and outlying areas, including a digital billboard!
These larger-than-life signs include the faces of some of our very own Girl Scouts alongside one of three different cookie messages: Buy a Box, Get a Box, and Want a Box?
In addition to billboards, there are bus signs and junior posters (smaller billboards) all over our communities, and coffee sleeves, too. Next time you order your favorite hot beverage at your favorite local coffee shop or cafe, you might be lucky enough to get a GSGLA coffee sleeve!
As they are confirmed, we will share a list of billboard locations in a future Panda-gram. Here's where you can find cookie sleeves beginning Monday, February 22: GSGLA Coffee Sleeve Campaign
In the meantime, if you see one, take a picture or let us know or just smile knowing you're part of a great program and a great message.
U cn txt 4 cookies 2! LOL!
Step into the future! This year, we're introducing text technology to the Cookie Program. GSGLA Cookie fans (and fiends) can simply text their zip code to gs@girlscoutsla.org and they will get a message back listing two nearby cookie booth locations for that day (beginning February 26).
The system is up and functional, so try it now!
The text address can receive zip code messages from e-mail addresses in addition to text messages from cell phones and other mobile devices. Customers looking for cookies can also go to the GSGLA website and click on the Cookie Locator to see all booths within a zip code.
Remember, if you're not using the GreenBeans Boothing Scheduler, your cookie booth cannot be included in any of these cookie finder technologies.
GSGLA Cookie Stardom on KTLA!
The Thin Mints are ready for their close-ups! GSGLA Girl Scouts and all the delicious cookie varieties will be on the KTLA Morning Show Thursday, February 25. We will also be doing a simultaneous live remote on GO Country 105 FM! Superstar fabulous!
The telecast is in support of our Cookie Program and in particular, Gift of Caring. Make sure you tune in to KTLA, Channel 5 on Thursday morning between 7-10 am for the 2010 Cookie Program's television debut!
Girl Scout Cookies are the Tops with Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt
Maybe it's the Olympic Fever going around, but GSGLA is going for the Gold with the Girl Scout Cookie Program! We have teamed with Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt for fantastic toppers and a fantastic offer. Golden Spoon locations in the GSGLA area will feature Girl Scout Cookie toppings on their yogurt varieties. Mmmmm!
In addition, some cookie booths near Golden Spoon store locations will offer coupons* for a free frozen yogurt to customers that buy three or more boxes of Girl Scout Cookies! What a great way to promote Cookie Bundles!

Decorate Your Cookie Car!
We have another way for you to promote your Girl Scout Cookie Program. Every Cookie Cupboard is equipped with car chalk for you to make your car a mobile cookie booth. Make it a troop effort and decorate your car, SUV, minivan, etc. with designs and cookie slogans such as "It's Girl Scout Cookie Time! Visit www.girlscoutsLA.org!" Then get ready for lots of friendly waves and honks!
Car chalk may only be available during cookie cupboard hours.

Girl Scout cookie updates
Initial Order Incentive
Every girl who turns in an initial order total of 150 boxes or more will receive a fashionable GSGLA "Inspired by U" T-shirt. It's all the rage! These Initial Order Superstars can wear it with pride at booth sales or out on the town, and it's a fabulous ice breaker for their cookie pitch to new customers!
T-shirts will be distributed at initial order cookie delivery.
Gift of Caring: Get a box -- Give a box
The Gift of Caring Program (GOC) is a cookie donation opportunity for customers to buy a box (or boxes!) of cookies to be distributed to our 2010 Gift of Caring Partners: Operation Gratitude, the LA Foodbank, and the Bob Hope USO. Through these organizations, cookies will be shared with and sent to military troops and to those in need. Thank you to our GOC Sponsor, GO Country 105 FM.
Gift of Caring: Steps of Participation!
- Be a knowledgeable diplomat for our GOC partners and the program. Learn how the cookie donation will be distributed. Learn the basics about our Gift of Caring partners and the process.
- Always ask customers if they'd like to buy an extra box (or two, or three!) for Gift of Caring. Many people take advantage of the opportunity if they are asked. Plus, the Gift of Caring program is a great response to customers who may not want to buy cookies for themselves.
- Register for a GOC service opportunity. GSGLA has great ways for troops to get involved with the distribution of the GOC cookies! We will soon announce details for the opportunities, which will take place in April 2010. Whether it's troop to troop or youth to youth, here are some great ways for girls to help:
- All: Help unload and store cookies at the Bob Hope Hollywood USO at LAX
- All: Write cards and letters to US military personnel serving overseas
- Girls under 12: place notes on boxes going to military personnel (regional locations)
- Girls ages 12+: sort and/or pack cookies in care boxes for Operation Gratitude in Van Nuys
- Girls ages 14+: sort and/or pack cookies in backpacks for the LA Foodbank Backpack program
Gift of Caring: New and Improved!
Gift of Caring receipt boxes! Troop Cookie Chairs will receive a boothing kit during initial order pick-up that will have great cookie program tools including a GOC receipt box. Once a customer donates cookies, the completed donation slips can be put into a sleek promotional box that is displayed at your cookie booth.
Gift of Caring message labels! The boothing kits will also include blank GOC labels. These labels (templates will also be available online) are for GOC donors who wish to write a short message of thanks to military personnel. (Girl Scouts are encouraged to write letters or cards, too).
Gift of Caring Service Opportunities for younger girls! Our younger girls now have an opportunity to help. Girls 12 and under will put GOC labels on cookie boxes that will go to military troops serving overseas.
