Girl Scouts help out on George Lopez Tonight
Last week, girls from Troops 484 and 9124 stepped up to be a sister to a Tacoma, Washington Girl Scout who was robbed of her cookie cash earlier this month. The girls appeared on the George Lopez Tonight television show to help distribute Girl Scout Cookies after host George Lopez interviewed the 16-year old and bought cookies for the entire audience.
The girls got to see the behind-the-scenes of a television show and got to meet Mr. Lopez and his production team! Thanks for helping, girls!

Woodland Hills service center opens June 30
To better serve you, Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles is opening the Woodland Hills Service Center on June 30! This location, just a half mile from the 101 Freeway on the corner of Burbank Boulevard and De Soto Avenue, will replace the Chatsworth Service Center.

This new site has abundant parking, a new and expanded shop, a large training room for volunteer sessions, improved access for product sale cupboards, and increased visibility for Girl Scouting that includes illuminated monument signage on a highly visible intersection!
Please take note that the Chatsworth Service Center will close at noon on Friday, June 25 and the Woodland Hills Service Center will open Wednesday, June 30 at 8:30 a.m. The Chatsworth Shop will be closed June 24-25, and the Woodland Hills Shop will open along with the Service Center on June 30. Thanks in advance for anticipating your needs so we can assist you prior to our brief closure.
The address for the new Woodland Hills Service Center is:
20931 Burbank Blvd.
Suite A
Woodland Hills, CA 91367
The local office number remains (818) 886-1801.
If you have any questions, contact Mary Stearn. GSGLA looks forward to serving you soon in the new Woodland Hills Service Center!

Camp Lakota update
As you may know, the Camp Lakota Lodge/Dining Hall was destroyed by fire on January 8. GSGLA is awaiting approval to demolish the remains before the camp can re-open. However, the heavy snow this winter has delayed the insurance investigation. For the most up-to-date information on availability of the site for programs, please contact Property Registrar Kristin Tierney at (626) 677-2366.
Because this building is integral to the operation of the camp, we hope to rebuild as soon as possible and we would like your opinion on some of the features and amenities of the new space. Please take our Camp Lakota survey and let us know what you think. Hurry! The survey closes April 10.
Also, in the coming months GSGLA will be seeking volunteer input to improve and redevelop Camp Lakota. Please look for future electronic surveys and a North Region Volunteer Forum with details to be announced as plans are developed.
Keep in mind that while insurance will cover the cost to rebuild the lodge/dining hall to its former size and scope, we are considering upgrading the building to better meet the program needs, to increase energy efficiency, and to improve building access. Donations will help to finance the cost of upgrades and the cost for long-range camp improvements. If you’d like to donate, please download the Camp Lakota Redevelopment Fund form or visit the Camp Lakota web page to donate online.
